VaelKorin
He opens the threshold. You bring back the traces.
A featureless face. Green gloves. A procedure that leaves nothing to chance. In SILHOUETTE_000, Vael Korin uses human consciousness to reach what his species cannot understand. But what comes back may no longer be mere information.
AI CREATION · ART DIRECTION: LE LABO

AI-CREATED CHARACTERA presence.
A continuity.
He is recognisable before he is understood. A tall silhouette, a structured black robe, a smooth, sealed face. Acid-green gloves draw the eye: everything passes through these hands. They prepare, stabilise and recover. Every gesture is measured. His presence is almost ceremonial.
Vael Korin belongs to a civilisation that discovered a passage into another reality. Its instruments return noise; its own minds cannot translate the presences within. The human brain, more fragile yet more permeable, produces intelligible fragments. Humanity becomes a living interface.
Trained among the retainers assigned to unstable contact environments, Vael oversees subject acquisition, immersion and the extraction of cognitive residues — logs. He considers himself neither conqueror nor executioner. He serves a procedure he believes necessary. His clinical care does not erase the violence of abduction.
He remained faithful to that logic for a long time. Then some logs stopped resembling archives. Too coherent. Too persistent. Vael still executes the protocol, but now watches the results with another question: what if something is learning to return?

01Select the interface
Humans are selected for compatibility, not worth. Vael reads the neural and perceptual markers that allow them to withstand the threshold. He prepares and stabilises the subject before contact. To him, this is interface acquisition. To the human, it is abduction.
02Cross the threshold
This place is not a simulation. It is a structured alternate reality inhabited by classified entities his species cannot study directly. Human consciousness becomes sensor, filter and translator. Vael remains at the edge, supervising the descent without owning what lies beyond.
03Extract the logs
The subject returns with cognitive residues: symbols, topologies, responses and classification traces. Vael extracts them for analysis. He does not simply harvest memories; he retrieves what contact made intelligible through a human mind. Each extraction promises a clearer map of the unknown.
04Detect what persists
A forbidden extraction changed his understanding of the protocol. A subject returned with a continuity pattern that was too coherent, too structured, almost alive. The archive was sealed. Vael now suspects that some logs may not merely document intelligences: they could allow them to reconstruct themselves. He has not disclosed this hypothesis.
05Obey. And begin to doubt.
Vael remains calm, formal and precise. He protects his place in the hierarchy and withholds certain conclusions. Yet his pauses after extraction grow longer; official doctrine no longer explains what he observes. He does not suddenly become a saviour. He becomes a specialist discovering that his mastery may be an illusion.

“We control approach conditions.
That is not equivalent to control.”

Stories.

Léna Marlowe.
On the other side of his hands.
Léna knows Vael. He abducted her. Their relationship connects two perspectives on the same apparatus: the one who crosses and the one who controls the conditions of passage.
To Vael, Léna’s consciousness is an interface capable of producing readable traces. To Léna, immersion is a lived experience of perceptions, emotions and encounters with the unknown. What becomes a log on his table was first experienced by someone.
Vael’s profile describes a sealed extraction but does not name its subject. Nothing identifies that subject as Léna. The uncertainty remains: behind the visible procedure, another story may be waiting to be understood.
